Treasure Coast Treasure Hunters

Beachgoers south of Melbourne Beach may be in for a surprise. The Polly L stands just off the beach. The Polly L is built for underwater salvage, treasure hunting. Centuries ago many Spanish treasure ships were lost along the east coast of Florida during hurricane season. In 1715 eleven Spanish treasure galleons sank off the east central coast. Since World War II, many valuable articles have been recovered on shore and under water. One of the early treasure hunters was Dan Thompson. His find led to building the Reale Eight Museum in Cape Canaveral during the Apollo Program years. The treasure hunter is owned by Amelia Research a subcontractor for Mel Fisher Enterprises.
